The history of horse brasses can be traced back even to the Crusades, and many of the early designs originated out of superstition and were intended as an amulet or sorts, to guard again evil spirits. More modern day designs were used to symbolize the story of the horse's owner and his trade, and various pageants, parades or events he participated in. We are simply captivated by the uniqueness and style of these pieces!
